Risk & Insure Zimbabwe journalist Donald Tafadzwa Chidoori is among the winners of the inaugural Insurance Journalism Awards.
The awards attracted entries from Radio, Television, Print and Online journalists.
The award ceremony was held last night at the Cresta Lodge in Harare.
Mr Chidoori was awarded the Insurance Journalist of the year award for his sterling work in reporting informative and educative articles on insurance.
Mr Chidoori had previously won an award for “Outstanding insurance article for the month of May 2017,” under the Zimselector.com sponsored Journalists Insurance Reporting Programme. The winning article creatively demonstrated how cheap it is to acquire home insurance and dispelled the myth that home insurance is expensive.
The awards themselves are an extension of the insurance journalists mentorship programme.
Ratidzo Matizanadzo of Star FM was awarded first runner up while Ndamu Sandu of the Standard Newspaper was awarded second runner up.
Shame Mukoshori of the Financial Gazette won the Best Technical Content (News) award while Taurai Museka an online blogger and Freelancer was runner up.
Donald Chidoori who is also founder and Chief executive of Risk & Insure Zimbabwe said: “The class and standard of all the entries was exceptionally high. I am happy that I managed to be the best at the same time I am impressed by the commitment – of the entire crop of journalist who participated in the programme- in advancing the consumer’s understanding of insurance.”
Zimselector.com initiated the awards to recognise and promote insurance reporting in Zimbabwe.
