Zimselector.com initiated the awards to recognise and acknowledge the achievements of the journalists, who travelled a long road in pursuit of enhanced knowledge in the field of insurance and savings. Journalists were required to demonstrate how their articles raised awareness and understanding of the insurance sector in Zimbabwe.
Luke Ngwerume the Managing Director of Zimselector.com said: “We identified the journalists as the custodians of information in any society and reckoned that if they had a better understanding of insurance and savings then they could set a new tone in the discussions around financial services and how they fit into the scheme of things at a Marco level.”
“The journalists have risen to the occasion and one only has to look at the number of high quality articles that have been released on all types of media. We are celebrating the achievements of the journalists, who have travelled a long road in pursuit of enhanced knowledge in the field of insurance and savings. To the journalists, the conversation has to keep going,”
The guest of honor and co-sponsors of the insurance awards, Commissioner of the Insurance and Pensions Commision Mr Tendai Karonga said: “I am particularly delighted to be part of this momentous occasion because my desire is to see the media playing a role of educating and informing members of the public properly about insurance and pensions, and the related benefits of risk mitigation and of cause poverty reduction.”
