EY has announced a series of key appointments to consolidate its assurance and advisory services.
Happiness Vundla, Tarryn Campell and Tinei Muhwandi have been promoted to Associate Director with EY’s Assurance Services Line while Newton Madzikwa and Tafadzwa Mavhunga have been promoted to Associate Director in the Advisory Services Line.

Prior to her promotion Happiness Vundla was Senior Manager in Assurance. Happiness is a Chartered Accountant with more than ten years experience with the firm mainly serving audit clients. Her sectors of specialty are financial services, retail and manufacturing. Happinness has been instrumental in the Assurance business growth space where she is the core member of the Assurance markets team.
Tarryn Campell was promoted to Associate Director from Senior Manager. She had been with the firm for 14 years. I qualified Chartered Accountant by profession, a member of the Institute of Charted Accountants of Zimbabwe’s Accounting Procedures Committee, Tarryn currently serves clients in mining, consumer products and the retail industry.
Tinei Muhwandi has been appointed Associate Director in the firm’s Financial Reporting Group were he previously worked as a Senior Manager. He is CA (Z) and CA (SA), who holds an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch. Tinei has over 14 years professional work experience. As part of his appointment he will be taking a key role in helping the firm’s clients in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi with interpreting International Financial Reporting Standards.
Newton holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool, a Bsc (Hons) in Applied Mathematics from NUST and is a certified Project Management Professional. Newton has been with EY for seven years, he currently serves clients in Zimbabwe and Zambia under the Advisory Services business, where he also helps the rest of the EY network across Africa. His new role will include the responsibility to grow the firm’s advisory footprints in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi.
In his new role Tafadzwa Mavhunga will be responsible for growing the firms advisory business focusing on IT Risk. He has over 10 years’ experience in IT Advisory and Risk Assurance. He has worked and led different work assignments across different sectors in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia and Malawi. A holder of an MBA, a Bsc (Hons) in Information systems. Tafadzwa is also certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls and Information Systems Security.
Career Path at EY
New graduates or those who have less than three years of relevant experience would join our firm as staff. Depending upon the service line you join, you will either gain broad knowledge of corporate tax and tax accounting practices through tax return filings, tax provision work and basic tax advisory work, or you will gain specialized knowledge in one of our specialty practices. In either case, through you will gain an understanding of businesses and insights into the challenges businesses face, and develop skills to understand how to solve them.
Those with the appropriate work experience would become Seniors when joining our firm. At this level, you will develop account management skills, and develop deeper tax and accounting knowledge and experience. You will be responsible for developing others through your work on engagement teams and share your knowledge and insights with others.

The positions of Managers and Senior Managers require one to take on multifaceted roles; grasping the complete picture of engagements management and ensuring that work is carried out smoothly as the leader. You are also responsible for day to day client communications so strong communication skills are essential as well as the ability to identify clients needs and solutions. At this level, your leadership and relationship skills are critical to support our People First environment and client relationship needs.
■Partners and Directors
Partners and Directors, as the senior executives of the firm are responsible for ensuring we are building and maintaining strong trusting relationships with clients, while at the same staying abreast of the business and market, searching for new business solutions and opportunities to provide value to our clients.
You will lead project teams, take on the role of providing direction towards effective solutions, share knowledge through training and on the job coaching for employees and ensuring the development of all our people.
